about

In 2015 I lost friends and acquaintances to suicide and overdose in rapid succession and it destroyed me. I still haven't fully recovered. I don't know if I ever will. I was raised Catholic, and while I was always agnostic, 2015 broke me and my faith. When you listen to this song, I want you to cry along with me, and smile through the tears at the same time, and know that life is a crazy, short, exhilarating ride, and the *only thing that matters* is that we treat one another decently during the time that we are here together.

I want to honor Nick Chandler and Chris Sprague specifically. Rest in peace my friends. I miss you so much.

lyrics

And we walked with our heads held high
There's a cliff out on either side
Of the road we've walked and we've lost our friends as it's narrowed

Some of them stumbled before they fell
Some of them jumped headlong towards hell
Others pushed by those who still walk on this road

So be thankful for what you've got
And don't worry 'bout what you have not
That sounds nice and all, but we're still so damned hungry

Oh my friends, oh my friends,
I fear we have reached the end
This was no road it was a narrowing peninsula

There's no line that goes between
The space of air and the space of sea
will we drown, or float, or fall into the air?
